Royal super-fan Abbey to be here

With more than THREE days to go before the Royal Wedding John Loughrey took up his place outside Westminster Abbey last night.

JOHN LOUGHREY takes up position outside Abbey 3 days before Royal Wedding

Armed with only a sleeping bag and three Union flag bags ? but no tent ? John will spend the next three nights sleeping under the stars so he can have a grandstand view of the wedding procession delivering Kate Middleton to the Abbey on Friday.

John, 56, began his vigil wearing a Kate and William T-shirt emblazoned with the words 'Diana Would Be Proud' tied round his waist and a Union flag hat.

The former assistant chef, from Wandsworth, south-west London, is a self-confessed "super-fan" of the late Diana, Princess of Wales.

He said: "I have always been loyal to the Royal Family.

"I think they are good for Britain and good for tourism. We have had them for more than 1,000 years and they make a great contribution to the life of this country."

John even got a special mention by the coroner at the inquest into Diana's death after he showed up for every hearing, camping for three days outside the Royal Courts of Justice in central London.

The devotee said he believed Kate, 29, and Wills, 28, would be together "forever".

He added: "They have taken their time over marriage, unlike the Prince's late mother - she got married maybe far too young.

"The Prince has learned from his mother to take his time."

The Palace confirmed on Sunday that Wills had asked to be given two years to allow Kate to settle into royal life before taking on her full public role.

British police today vowed to crack down "robustly" on anyone trying to disrupt the wedding.

Cops said 5,000 officers would be relying on the public to spot troublemakers.

London Police's Assistant Commissioner Lynne Owens said: "We intend to interact robustly, quickly and firmly if anybody engages in any criminal activity.

"We really need you to be our eyes and our ears. If you see anybody in the crowd that is acting suspiciously please bring it to the earliest attention of our officers."
